Pesto Hummus

I received some fresh basil in our bi-weekly organic vegetable delivery box, so I quickly came up with this recipe. I must say I am very happy with the taste. When you have some extra fresh basil and love hummus, please try it. I don’t think you will find this flavor in commercial hummus products.


1/2 cup fresh basil (packed)
2 garlic cloves
4 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
4 Tbsp tahini
4 Tbsp lemon juice (from one lemon)
2 Tbsp filtered water
30 oz (850 g) cooked garbanzo beans (canned or homemade)
1 tsp salt


  1. In a food processor, place all the ingredients except for beans and salt and process until smooth.
  2. Add beans and salt and process again. Taste and adjust the amount of salt.
  3. Infuse love and serve with chips or veggie sticks.

Yield: 2.5 cups
